Gujaratis are known for their sweet tooth. Jaidev is no different. A complete foodie, fond of Gujarati food, especially sweets and fried items, Jaidev faced an insurmountable hurdle due to his sedentary lifestyle. He was morbidly obese at 131 kgs in July 2015.
By the end of his graduation, he was fighting a losing battle against obesity. His waist was an embarrassing 48 inches and he had to wear only Plus size clothes of 4xl – 5xl , sometimes even having to get them specially tailored for him.
His weight became his nemesis. Jaidev had read somewhere “let exercise be your stress reliever- not food”. With health issues staring him in the face, Jaidev started his FAT to FIT journey.
“The backbone of success is hard work, determination, good planning and perseverance “—- Mia Hamm. Jaidev’s backbone is his family support. With his eye set on his fitness goal, Jaidev embarked on a structured diet plan with walking and a few yogasanas.
Jaidev progressed to include running in his plan in the middle of 2016 and subsequently joined the Balewadi Runners structured training sessions in February 2017. Says Jaidev, “ I am thankful to my Pune Running mentors for helping me achieve miles I had never dreamed of. Running has now become an inevitable part of my life.”
Jaidev is now 50 kilos lighter, and this foodie rewards himself with a treat when he achieves a set target. He says, “losing weight isn't all that difficult if you want to see yourself look smarter and healthier.“ With a twinkle in his eye he signs off saying, “You may have to learn to eat right in the right proportion, but that’s all there is. Mind over matter.”
