A survivor, a true fighter!
A young Apoorva was always a sports aficionado and a passionate runner. As a teenager, she used to regularly run for 5 kms. She was also a hockey player and a strong opponent to a well-known player/actor Sagarika Ghatge (Preeti Sabharwal in ChakDe India)
However, choosing to focus more on her academics, she discontinued sports after 10th grade. But having the athletic gene in her blood, she didn’t gain any extra weight.
As they say, once a runner, always a runner. About 7 years ago, Apoorva began running again. Being in Pune, she became a regular, avid member of Pune Running.
Sounds like a fairy-tale, doesn’t it?
Well, it’s not. At the age of 28, Apoorva was diagnosed with breast cancer.
This news came as a shock to herself and her family. Instead of being devasted and giving into her fate, Apoorva chose to fight back.
Speaking about her experience she says, “I strongly believe- Everything is possible. Believe. Try. Trust. I didn't have an iota of doubt about my strength and vitality to kick C out of my life.
Long story short, I focused my energy on healing my body and mind. With a rock-solid support from my family, doctors and my extended family from the running community - Manisha Ma’am, Sudhi Sir I have been blessed with health and happiness again. The trying times are behind me and I have emerged stronger, fitter, and braver.”
Since then, she’s never looked back. Her love for fitness and running grew so much that it is now an inseparable & integral part of her life. “There are clubs you can’t belong to, neighborhoods you can’t live in, schools you can’t get into, but the roads are always free. I made exercise and running an integral part of my life and lifestyle. Recently, I successfully completed the ‘100 days Running Challenge’. Thanks to the wonderful running community, especially the trainers of Pune Running- Pashan, I completed 100 days without any injury, mentally and physically growing stronger than ever.
“I am thankful to Pune Running for showering me with the love, support and belief. I am perfectly healthy and enjoying my fit lifestyle. And yes, I'm the boss of my life.”
